Today my mom, Alice Farrell, passed away after a brief illness. She was a church organist and music teacher who taught at St. Anthony's in the 70s and 80s and played at St. John Chrysostom in the South Bronx for over 20 years as their official organist. Please remember her and my family in yours prayers.

Marion
Although I did know your mother I am sure she was a great parent. Please accept my condolences for her loss.
It is always difficult to lose a parent even if th ey live to a ripe old age. A wise person once said that" one can never repay the love a parent gives you but one can pass on that love to your children and others."
Treasure your memories.
Regards,
Les

Thank you all for the kind thoughts. It means so much to me! The funeral was today and everything was lovely. After the burial we gathered for lunch and and shared great memories of my mother. I am sure she would have appreciated the anecdotes. Thanks again, everyone.

I haven't been on the site for quite a while so I only heard about your mom's death. I want to send you my deepest condolences to you & your family. I was a student at St. Anthonys School from 1976-80. I used to look forward to going down the the gym to have a class with her. She used to play the piano for the St. Patricks Night festivities. Your mom was a very special lady....I remember my friends & I used to go to her house sometimes and she would play the piano for us. I will remember her in my prayers. God Bless you all. Irene, thanks so much for that. Music was such a big part of my mother's life. Her musical training served her well in later years. She had gotten all sorts of music degrees when she was younger but then got married, raised a family, and put the career on the back burner. I am happy that she found a career that she loved - how many of us can say that?

Have a Merry Christmas!

Thanks Marie-elena. I know you lost your mother several years ago so you certainly can relate to that unique mother-daughter bond which will always be there, even if mom is not physically present. Hope you had a Merry Christmas and I wish great things for you in 2010!

All the best
