Ed Stack's Playground

Hello All: Hope all is well and you can be cool on this melting hot day. Here is a project for all of us to work on. Last week at Frank Truglio's show at the Yonkers Raceway Casino, Jim Carolan and I were talking about Ed Stack. The thought came to mind that it wold be a wonderful tribute to have the 102 playground, now named Taylor Playground, be named after Ed Stack. I checked into the process and it appears that a letter with an Ed Stack biography requesting this type of dedication would have to be submitted to Community Board. I would like to start the process but preparation and proper presentation is the key to having the request approved. So, I need a lot of help with the Biography information. I know there are a lot of folks out there who have intimate and background info and would appreciate it if you could share the info you think is appropriate along with persons I can contact to get more detailed info such as his tenure with the Parks Dept., schools he attended, birthdate, place of birth, formation of the Archer Rams, photos, etc. When the time comes, individual supporting letters could probably be useful. Also, you may want to put me in touch with someone who can be of assistance by telephone or personal email. The Board meets in September and I'd like to have it ready as soon as possible so it can be placed on their agenda. I think this is a great project for us for a great guy, but I need your help and every little bit will be apreciated. Thanks in advance. Love, Peace and Happiness. Matt Keenan

Matt, i think that is a great idea. i and my brothers and sister all knew eddie growing up. he was great. always fair, except i have to say that the boys always got first on who got to play a pick up game of softball or basketball. count me in on a personal note.

matt, i thought this went through. anyway, great idea about ed stack naming of park. he was the best parkee, him and BB. a true parkee and all around guy, always there every day. always had supplies, although i will say that the girls had to really fight hard to get to play a softball game before the boys did. count on me for a personaL note.

Matt Keenan,

I understand that you were potentially leading this initiative to re-name PS 102. If so, let me know how I can help. Contact me at desd44@aol.com.
