FAVORITE CHRISTMAS PRESENT, WHEN YOU WERE A KID

HELLO OLD & NEW FRIENDS,
THOUGHT I WOULD GET A NEW SUBJECT STARTED. SO THINK ABOUT THAT FAVORITE BIKE,TRAIN SET OR SLED.
MAYBE A PRESENT YOU BOUGHT FOR SOMEONE ELSE. CLOSE YOUR EYES & SMELL THE PINE NEEDLES. OR ALL THE NEIGHBORS BAKING.

HOW MANY OF YOU REMEMBER MURRAY'S ON ARCHER ST? MY MOM USE TO PUT STUFF ON LAYAWAY,EVERY YEAR.
AS A KID, I GOT THE TRADITIONAL RED BIKE & SLED (DIFFERENT YEARS, OF COURSE) MOM ALWAYS MADE ME A NEW PAIR OF PJ'S , A BEAUTIFUL OUTFIT AND 1 MAJOR (STORE BOUGH,REQUESTED PRESENT) FOR CHRISTMAS DAY. BUT I THINK A LOT ABOUT THE ELECTRIC CURLERS MY MOM GOT ME WHEN I WAS 13. ALEXANDERS WAS ON FORDHAM RD. MOM PAID $10 FOR THEM. THEY LASTED TIL I WAS ALMOST 25. BUT THE REASON, WHY I REMEMBER THEM WITH SUCH FOND MEMORIES IS BECAUSE OF MOM. SHE DID EVERYTHING TO KEEP ME FROM GROWING UP TOO FAST. BEING HER YOUNGEST, SHE WANTED TO KEEP ME HER "BABY GIRL". BUT WHEN I GOT THE CURLERS, I WAS VERY CONFUSED. 1ST OF ALL I HAD NATURALLY WAVY HAIR. SHE WAS ALWAYS TELLING ME TO STOP TRYING HAIRDO'S TO "LOOK OLDER"
SO WHEN I OPENED THAT BOX, I REALIZED MOM ACCEPTED THE FACT THAT I WAS GROWING UP & SHE WAS LETTING ME SPREAD MY WINGS. SO CLOSE YOUR EYES & SMELL THE PINE TREES IN YOUR IMAGINATION. HAPPY HOLIDAYS FROM ME TO ALL OF YOU.

The best Christmas gift I ever received was a doll called "Baby Magic." I still have her. If you waved a pink magnetic magic wand she either cry or wet herself. (Obviously you had to fill her up with water so she would perform). Still, that was high tech for the 60s.

I must say, my Mom & Dad went all out for Christmas presents. I remember getting some great gifts. My favorites were: Mr. Machine, a Haunted House game, a Monkees talking hand puppet, a Mr. Ed talking hand puppet, a Casper the friendly ghost talking doll, a styroform castle building set & a Fred Flinstone bowling set. I wish I still had this stuff. I'm sure it's worth a fortune.
