Commonwealth & Tremont Ave 1909

Daily News had a great set of photos in the paper on 6/16. It was a photo of E Tremont Ave looking east at Commonwealth. The streets were not paved ( and looked like a muddy mess!). There is also a picture of how it looks today.
You can see by the photo that the buildings were very nice looking when built - fancy woodwork, etc. Most were later butchered in the 70's by aluminum siding!!
Before that, there was the asbestos shingles that looked like brick.
