HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY WISH & REMEMBERING OUR FAVORITE ONE.

HELLO OLD & NEW FRIENDS,
JUST WANT TO GIVE A BIG SHOUT OUT, TO ALL THE STRATTON PARK MOMS, ON THIS SITE. I WISH YOU ALL HEALTH & HAPPINESS. MOST OF ALL I WISH YOU HEALTHY & HAPPY, KIDS & GRANDKIDS. MAY YOU ALWAYS REMEMBER YOUR FAVORITE 'MOTHER'S DAY. (PERHAPS IT WAS THE YEAR YOU BECAME A MOM). MAYBE WE CAN SHARE OUR OUR MEMORIES. MY FAVORITE 1 FOR MY MOM, WAS WANTING TO BUY HER A PRETTY PIN, FROM THE JEWELRY SECTION OF MACY'S. I DIDN'T HAVE ENOUGH MONEY FOR THE TAX. SO INSTEAD I WENT TO HARMONY RECORD STORE AND PURCHASED THE LATEST TOM JONES "45". THEH I WENT INTO A CANDY STORE ANAD BOUGHT A BUNCH OF MARYJANE CANDIES. WHEN I TOLD MOM ABOUT WHY I COULDN'T GET HER THE PIN. SHE TOLD ME, THAT SHE HAD MORE THAN ENOUGH JEWELRY. THAT THE RECORD AND THE CANDY WAS A BETTER GIFT. SHE REMINDED ME OF THIS, YEARS LATER. WHEN WE WERE IN MACY'S. JUST BEFORE THE HOLIDAY. SHE CONFESSED THAT SHE WAS ANGRY AT THE SALESWOMAN, WOULD COULDN'T HAVE CONTRIBUTED THE 12 CENTS , THAT A 10 YEAR KID NEED TO BUY A MOTHER'S DAY GIFT. SHE SAID SHE SAW THE DISAPPOINTMENT IN MY FACE. SO THATS WHY SHE TOLD ME SHE LOVED MY OTHER GIFTS MORE.

NOW FOR MY FAVORITE YEAR AS A MOM. MIKE WAS 7 AND MARC JUST 5. THEY WEREN'T ALLOWED NEAR THE STOVE. IT WAS MY 1ST YEAR AS A SINGLE MOM. SO THEY MADE ME TEA IN THE MICROWAVE AND TOAST WITH STRAWBERRY JAM. THE TEA WAS LUKE WARM. WITH TEA LEAVES FLOATING IN IT. THE TOAST WAS BURNTSO BADLY, THAT IT CRACKED INTO PIECES AS THEY SMEARED THE JAM ON IT. AS THEY BROUGHT ME THE TRAY, SOME OF THE TEA SPILLED. BUT THAT WAS O.K. WE LATER ON HAD A PICNIC ON THE LIV RM FLOOR. BECAUSE 1 OF THEM WAS NOT FEELING GOOD. WE STILL TRY & HAVE PICNICS ON THE LIV RM FLOOR, WHEN WE DON'T HAVE COMPANY FOR MOTHER'S DAY. THIS YEAR THEY ARE MAKING SLOPPY JOES. WE WILL LAUGH & TELL FUNNY STORIES. A FEW WILL BRING TEARS TO OUR EYES, BECAUSE THEY WILL BE OF MOM/NANA. BUT WHEN THEY DAY IS OVER. I WILL BE THANKFUL THAT MY NOT SO PERFECT CHILDREN ARE ALIVE,HAPPY & WELL. ALSO NOT FIGHTING SOME STUPID WAR. SO NO MATTER WHAT GRIEF YOUR KIDS GIVE YOU DURING THE YEAR. REMEMBER THE MOMS WHO WISH, THEY HAD JUST ONE MORE MOTHER'S DAY WITH THEIR CHILDREN. GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

Hi Marie-elena, hope you had a wonderful mother's day.

Do you remember those tissue paper corsages we used to make in school for mom on mother's day? I used to take great pride in constructing one,but looking back, they were probably pretty sloppy. Good thing mom acted as though it was the greatest thing she had ever seen.

hello marion,
thanks for the warm wishes. yes, i did have a very nice "mother's day". i also remember the tissue flowers. i had a teacher, who sprayed them lightly w/ perfume. so when i got home, i tried it again. a little too much of mom's favorite perfume. do you remember how some mothers had a mirrored tray on their dresser? it was my job to dust it off & put all her perfumes & toilet waters, back correctly. mom had a top to a bottle that looked like a large diamon. don't know what happened to the bottle. but mom never threw out stuff. especially if it had "meaning" for her. thanks for reminding me of the flowers. see you soon
